This jacket wears the silver-grey tone of a woven glen check cloth: from afar it is a smooth grey patch, and only up close do the small interlocking checks show. The wide peak lapels are faced in solid black satin, the points reaching high and running down to the single button. The chest pocket is piped and sits flush in the cloth, with a small metal lapel pin, and the sleeves fit close to show exactly one centimetre of white cuff. The cloth has a light spring and holds its shape without stiffness.

This is the jacket for evening receptions, award ceremonies or weddings where you want to stand apart from a sea of black. Pair it with a white wing-collar shirt with black studs, a medium-width black bow tie and dark, straight-leg trousers, and that is all you need. Polished leather shoes, and no belt.
