Look closely and this suit is not pure black: the cloth leans toward a deep moss green and catches the light softly rather than harshly. What gives it character is the red satin piping that runs the full line of the peak lapels and repeats at the chest pocket and the two hip pocket flaps. One fine red line, enough to be remembered in a crowd without showing off. Single-breasted with one button, it follows the waist closely and goes with a medium black bow tie and a white stand-collar shirt.

This is the suit for the groom who wants his wedding day to have a colour of its own, or for you when you are hosting an event, receiving an award or opening an end-of-year party. The cleanest pairing is still a plain white shirt, a black bow tie, trousers in the same fabric and polished black leather shoes; if you want an extra accent, a pocket square in the same red is just enough.
