Black from top to bottom, with no accent to break the line: that is the strength of this suit. The satin shawl lapel curves in one line from collar to button, with no notch as on a peak lapel, so the upper body looks continuous and composed. It has one button, satin-trimmed slanted hip pockets and a flush chest pocket. Underneath goes a white shirt and a slim black tie, with straight trousers in the same cloth that fall over the top of the shoe.

This is the safest choice that still looks distinguished, for your wedding day, for evening parties and for those occasions when you do not want to think much about what to wear. Black leather shoes, and either a slim belt or no belt at all, and you are done.

An all-black suit is in fact the hardest to make, because there is no detail to hide a flaw, and whether the jacket hangs properly shows immediately.
