The signature of this suit is its wide satin shawl lapel, opening across most of the chest before narrowing to a single button at the waist. The generous lapel broadens the shoulders and lifts the neck, which suits a slender build. Glossy satin against matte black cloth gives two different lights on the same jacket. A white stand-collar shirt, a medium black bow tie and straight trousers falling right to the top of the shoe complete it.

This is a suit that Mon Amie often makes for grooms at weddings and evening parties: a classic straight line, with no affectation, so that people look at you first and the suit second. Wear it with polished black leather shoes and long black socks; a white silk pocket square is up to you.

A wide shawl lapel needs a firm foundation built inside for the curve to stand, so that it does not collapse after a few wears. Mon Amie's Hue-born tailor does this part by hand, pressing it section by section so that the satin follows the curve that has been built. Before that, you are measured at the showroom with more than twenty measurements, and then come the fittings, in which we adjust gradually until it fits closely.
