Navy Tuxedo with Satin Trouser Stripe

A deep navy that looks almost black in angled light and shows its blue only when you step into brighter light. The lapels are faced in black satin of medium width, running low to form a graceful V across the chest. The jacket has a single button, a close fit and a hem that falls just past the hip. The hip pockets are trimmed in satin and the chest pocket is a clean welt. The finest detail is in the trousers: a black satin stripe down the side of the leg, true to the classic tuxedo, visibly lengthening the leg line.

This is the suit for parties where you move around a lot: standing receptions, cocktail parties and launch events, where people see you from every angle and not only from the front. A white shirt, a medium-width black bow tie and a pair of polished lace-up shoes are the standard foundation. You can leave out the pocket square to keep it clean, or choose a white silk one if the occasion is more formal.

The satin stripe down the side of the trousers is a detail that only made-to-measure can do properly: it must lie straight along the vertical line of the trouser and follow the shape of your leg, and the slightest deviation spoils the whole suit.
