About this tuxedo
This jacket is black but never flat: the fine pebble weave gives a very slight matte grain, and beside the glossy satin shawl lapel the two blacks separate clearly. The shawl lapel curves in one line from collar to button, with no notch and no break, the softest of all formal lapel styles. It has one covered button, satin-jetted hip pockets, a flush chest pocket and four close-set black buttons at each cuff. Underneath goes a white shirt with a textured front, black buttons and a black satin bow tie.
You can wear this to galas, concerts, evening weddings or award ceremonies, and it will be right at home at each. Plain black trousers and polished leather shoes, with no belt, complete the look.
Whether a shawl lapel is beautiful or not lies entirely in its curve. The Mon Amie tailor builds the lapel on your own pattern, positions the point of the curve so that it follows your chest, then presses it with a hand iron over many passes. From the measuring session to the final fitting, each jacket is one of a kind.
