Renting tuxedos for a group of groomsmen: how to organise it
Renting tuxedos for groomsmen works with one point person, measurements taken together, one coordinated style, and fittings and collection booked early.

Renting tuxedos for a whole group of groomsmen runs smoothly when one person acts as the point of contact, everyone is measured at the same time, the style is chosen once for the group, and fittings and collection are booked early. The hardest part is rarely choosing the cut. It is getting six or seven men of different builds and different diaries into the same place at the same time. This guide breaks that into steps.
Appoint one point person
The groom has a hundred things on his plate, so ask a reliable friend, often the head groomsman, to deal with the consultant. He keeps the list: who is in the group, who lives in another province, whose height or build is unusual, who has not replied. Use one group chat, with the date, time and showroom address, so everyone arranges their own diary.
Through the rental service at Mon Amie, you try on at the showroom and the garment is altered to fit, with cleaning included. That means each groomsman is fitted to his own build rather than put into a stock suit and left to cope.
Take everyone's measurements
Measurements are the part most likely to go wrong in a big group. A few simple rules:
- Bring the whole group in one visit if you can. The consultant measures each man in turn, can choose suits for everyone together, and the groom sees the group side by side before he decides.
- Do not force the out-of-towners onto the same slot. Message the consultant to arrange something separate, and avoid sending measurements taken from an old jacket or guessing sizes.
- Each man brings the shoes he will wear and a thin shirt. The preparation is the same as for any measuring session; see preparing for your tuxedo measuring session.
- Flag different builds. One man has broad shoulders, another a belly, another is far taller than the rest. Say so at once rather than on collection day. Groomsmen of different builds covers this in depth.
Choose a coordinated style
Coordinated does not mean identical to the groom. The common approach is one colour and one character for the whole group, with the groom set apart by a few details. Matching groomsmen while keeping the groom the focus goes into how.
A few common approaches:
| Approach | Reference style |
|---|---|
| Everyone in black, the groom different in bow tie, pocket square or boutonniere | TUX-040: black, satin peak lapel, one button, white pocket square |
| Groomsmen in midnight blue, groom in black (or the reverse) | TUX-034: navy, satin peak lapel, satin-striped trousers |
| One colour for all, the groom in a waistcoat or different lapel | TUX-028: navy three-piece, black satin peak lapel, black waistcoat |
For a large group, black or deep navy is usually the easiest to unify because it suits every skin tone and build. When you decide, look at the whole group under the same lighting, and ask the consultant whether the style you are leaning towards is available in enough pieces for everyone.
Fittings and collection
With a large group, the schedule is the most fragile piece. Take it step by step:
- Fix the wedding date and the photo date. The consultant needs the first point at which the suits must be ready, since groomsmen may wear them for a pre-wedding shoot.
- Book one fitting for the whole group, or split into two sessions. The consultant will give the specific schedule after measuring.
- Leave time for alterations. Fit early enough that if a sleeve or hem needs adjusting there is still time. Do not leave everything to the week of the wedding.
- Collect as arranged. The consultant will agree a collection time, and the garments must be returned within the agreed period. Ask exactly what that period is when you collect; what to check when renting a tuxedo goes through it.
A small tip for the point person: after the fitting, take a photo of the whole group in their suits and post it to the group chat. Anyone who spots a poor fit will say so while there is still time.
Rental prices depend on the style: ask your consultant
Rental prices depend on the style and the number of suits, so we do not publish one general figure. Send the head count and the styles you are considering, and the consultant will advise on the group. If you are weighing renting against having the groom's suit made, should you rent or have a tuxedo made helps you compare.
Suggestions from Mon Amie for the whole party
Gather the list and book at a showroom so the group can be fitted in the same session; your consultant will arrange measuring, style choice and collection in a single contact. For questions about rental styles, message Zalo 0888.111.118.
