It has two buttons and a roomier cut than a slim fit, giving you room to breathe through a long evening while keeping a straight shoulder line. Satin-jetted hip pockets set flush and a satin pocket square folded horizontally on the left chest. Beneath goes a white shirt with a finely pleated front, fastened with black studs instead of ordinary buttons, with a hand-tied black bow tie. Straight black trousers and glossy black leather shoes.

This suit is for the evenings when you need to be impeccably turned out: a gala, an awards ceremony, an evening wedding, a diplomatic reception. It needs no elaborate styling: a black bow tie, a white shirt and polished shoes are enough. If you want a little more warmth, a pair of plain silver cufflinks is the right place to stop.
