This is the most elaborate jacket in the group. The body is a velvet-surfaced fabric in a smoke grey leaning blue, with a small tonal check weave, so as the light moves the cloth shifts in depth as though lit from within. Framing it is a wide black satin shawl collar, curving softly from the nape to the chest, flat and glossy as a contrast to the velvet. A white silk pocket square sits in the chest pocket, with a white shirt, black buttons and a satin bow tie underneath.

This jacket is for the nights you want to be remembered: a year-end gala, a private cocktail party, a launch or a concert evening. Patterned velvet demands a high level of craftsmanship, because the direction of the pile has to be consistent across the two front panels and the two sleeves.
